From Day One, Dr. Jim believed that closely tracking individual animal production events is the key to success. Today, with millions of animals in the FHMS data warehouse, it would be logistically impossible to track them without our iFHMS software program, which we developed especially for beef producers. iFHMSis continually updated and meets or exceeds the requirements of beef producers in many areas, including procurement, production, marketing, regulatory compliance and national identification. Its available to all FHMS clients for tracking and controlling animals. It is like having a consultant on-site and also a financial management tool. FHMS understands that the successful operation of a modern cattle production facility requires real-time data and analysis.
  Overview of IFHMS's functionality:
iFHMS is a World Class Individual Animal based, feedlot health management program.  It allows the feedlot to manage the cattle on an individual basis rather than by a lot of cattle.  This functionality enables better health management to optimize production, and food safety.  Sorting individuals creates opportunity for better marketing of the finished cattle increasing profitability in the feedlot.

Chute side Execution - Cattle Receiving:

  • Built in Arrival Protocols for various categories of cattle, that includes suggested vaccines, prophylactic treatment, and parasite control and performance products.  These are based on the gender, weight, history, finished marketing plan, and feeding program for a specific group of cattle.
  • Real-time IAM sorting capabilities, to sort cattle by age, weight, and other attributes such as breed.  Giving the feedlot better the ability to manage feeding and marketing endpoints that produce a more consistent group of desired carcasses.
  • Automated assignment of visual feedlot tag colour and number.
  • Automated weight input from scale head, national ID input from RFID readers, temperature input from digital thermometers, and data input from other measurement devices.
  • Automated data output to sort gates or other external devices to help manage sorted groups of cattle.
  • Instant Age & Source Verification by having connectivity to the National Database that houses Individual ID and birthdates.  Ultimately a production practice that will be standard in food production and safety around the world.
  • The ability to cross reference multiple tags and animal attributes for identification purposes (such as ATQ tags and USDA metal tags).  Eliminating the challenge of lost identity and animal records (treatments etc.).
  • Record all products, routes of administration, and quantity; along with procedures such as branding and castration.

Chute side Execution - Animal Treatment:

  • Built in animal treatment protocols generating instructions on how to treat an animal based on individual’s history, weight, temperature, and diagnosis.
  • Calculates withdrawal periods for food safety compliance.
  • Complete animal event history is available for viewing when treating enabling the best decision for diagnosis, treatment, and destination pen to send to.
  • Retagging option is available to replace lost National ID tags.
  • Automatic protocol switch to pre-slaughter based on either date, weight, or both.

Movement of Cattle:

  • Record and have a history of all individual animal movements.
  • Pen moves within the feedlot.
  • Lot moves within the feedlot.
  • Feedlot transfers, to and from other feedlots, while retaining all prior individual animal history.
  • Shipments for sale/slaughter.
  • Record when, why, and where cattle were railed.

Auto-submission by web services to CCIA:

  • All arrived animals CCIA tags reported as MOVEIN to the Premise ID of the feedlot
  • A cross reference for all replaced CCIA tags (when the original lost CCIA tag is known).
  • A RETIRED event for any animals that die while on the premise of the feedlot.

Feedlot Administrative Assistance:

  • Accommodates retagging of animals without losing animal history.
  • Electronic upload of pharmaceutical deliveries into inventory.
  • Full pharmaceutical inventory system, including electronic upload of pharmaceutical deliveries into inventory, pricing and product mapping.
  • Individual animal carcass data upload.
  • Reporting system to analyze and help make better management decisions, such as Animal treatment history, Pen inventory, Lot health summary.
  • Export functionality to export data to other databases.

Field Trial Data Collection:

  • Fully auditable for field trials which verifies authenticity of data.
  • Accommodates retagging/re-penning/relotting of animals for trial purposes without losing animal history.
